Biological Data Scientist – Biomarker Statistical Analysis (m/f/d)

Permanent employee, Full-time · Planegg-Martinsried

Your mission
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Biological Data Scientist (m/f/d) to perform advanced statistical analyses on biomarker data. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including bioinformatics, translational science, and clinical development, to derive meaningful insights from complex biological datasets. This role is critical to our mission of advancing biomarker discovery and application to support drug development and precision medicine strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis & Modeling:
  • Design and perform statistical analyses on biomarker data from clinical and translational studies.
  • Develop and apply predictive models, machine learning approaches, and other advanced statistical techniques to interpret biomarker datasets.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify patterns, trends, and correlations in biomarker data.
Biomarker Discovery & Validation:
  • Support the identification and validation of predictive and prognostic biomarkers for therapeutic response, disease progression, and patient stratification.
  • Analyze multi-omics data (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics) to inform biomarker development.
  • Integrate biomarker data with clinical and phenotypic data to derive actionable insights.
Collaboration & Communication:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including biologists, clinicians, and bioinformaticians to develop and execute biomarker analysis plans.
  • Clearly communicate statistical methods, results, and interpretations to scientific and non-scientific stakeholders through reports, presentations, and publications.
  • Contribute to the preparation of regulatory submissions, scientific manuscripts, and presentations at conferences.
Operational Excellence:
  • Develop and optimize workflows for biomarker data management, statistical analysis, and visualization.
  • Stay current with advancements in statistical methodologies and computational tools relevant to biomarker research.

Your profile
  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in statistical analysis of biomarker data, preferably in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industry.
  • Proficiency in statistical programming languages (e.g., R, Python, SAS) and extensive experience with data visualization tools.
  • Hands-on experience with biomarker datasets, including genomics, proteomics, or other high-dimensional biological data.
  • Strong understanding of statistical methods for biomarker discovery, validation, and predictive modeling (e.g., linear/logistic regression, survival analysis, machine learning).
  • Familiarity with clinical trial designs and statistical considerations for biomarker studies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to manage and analyze large, complex datasets.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex results to diverse audiences.
  • A work permit for Germany is mandatory.
Why us?
  • The opportunity to contribute to the development of a successful clinical program in oncology.
  • A role in a pioneering environment as part of a dynamic biotech company on the rise.
  • A collegial atmosphere characterized by a driven and supportive team.
  • Flexible work schedules with the option to work partially remote.
  • A secure and permanent employment contract.
About us
CatalYm is a biotech company based in Martinsried near Munich, developing innovative immunotherapies to transform cancer patients’ lives by effectively engaging their own immune systems to combat this malignant disease. We are now advancing to Phase 2b studies to confirm visugromab, our lead antibody, that has demonstrated durable anti-tumor efficacy with long-lasting objective responses in relapsed and refractory metastatic solid tumor patients in combination with anti-PD-1 treatment. Our mission is to rapidly bring our next-generation immuno-oncology products to patients in need. Are you ready to board the fast-accelerating visugromab train in Martinsried? Then join us!
